Anura in India team

PANJIM: Goa's 16-year-old Anura Prabhu Desai has been selected to represent the India team in the SCG Badminton Asia Under-17 and Under-15 junior championships, to be held from November 11 to 15, in Bangkok, Thailand.

She will partner Riya Mookerjee from Uttar Pradesh in the girl’s doubles under-17 event.
Anura, who is Goa’s top shuttler, is currently ranked second India in the under-17 girls doubles and eight in under-17 singles. She recently won gold medal in GD under-17, in Mumbai and silver medal, at Bengaluru and Dehradun. She was part of the Goa team which won silver in junior girls and ladies events at the recently concluded West zone badminton championships hosted by Goa.
Due to her creditable performances at the National level, she has been selected by the Airport Authority of India as a contract player. She currently trains at the TATA Padukone Badminton Academy, in Bengaluru.
