MARGAO: Geno Dragons triumphed over Desserts n More Avengers by eight wickets in the sixth and final Test of the Desserts n More Sarsangan Junior Cricket Test Series played at the Arlem Cricket ground.

The victory tied the six-match series at 3-3, but a superior Net Run Rate crowned the Dragons as champions of the competition, which featured 40 young cricketers aged 12-25.

Batting first, Desserts n More Avengers posted an impressive 264/5, powered by an unbeaten century from Nityay Kuncolienkar (101 off 67 balls, 9 fours). Supporting contributions came from Kaushal Churi (52), Paarth Kossambe (26), Rajat Dalal (21), and Kush Pai Raikar (16). For the Dragons, Om Keny stood out with figures of 2/26, while Avinash Sakhardande and Sahil Neurenkar claimed a wicket each.

In reply, Geno Dragons put up a commanding 296/5, taking a crucial 32-run first-innings lead. Vismay Falgaonkar led the charge with a scintillating 112 (62 balls, 9 fours, 3 sixes), ably supported by Saish Hegde (67), Sanat Prabhudesai (30), Om Keny (21), and Atchut Naik Dalal (17). Nityay Kuncolienkar, Ayan Borkar, and Kush Pai Raikar managed to take one wicket each for the Avengers.

Trailing by 32 runs, the Avengers faltered in their second innings, managing only 121. Nityay Kuncolienkar (40) and Aditya Dalal (39) tried to stabilize the innings, while Rajat Dalal contributed 17. However, four batters failed to score, leaving a modest target of 90 for the Dragons. Ishan Hodarkar’s decisive spell of 3/26, supported by Pranav Nagarshenkar (2/3) and Saish Hegde (1/8), sealed the Avengers’ fate.

The Geno Dragons chased down the target with ease, reaching 91/2 as Sanat Prabhudesai (48 not out) and Atchut Naik Dalal (30) steered their side to a comprehensive win. Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar took a consolation wicket for the Avengers.

Pallavi Salgaocar, Dr Sagar Salgaocar and their son Shivam were the guests at the closing ceremony.
