PANJIM: GFA President Elvis Gomes said that the effort to revive women’s football was one of the key highlights of the year gone by in addition to Goa ending up as the runners up in the senior nationals for the Santosh Trophy.
Extending greetings for the New Year 2018, Gomes said that the New Year would hold a greater promise for women’s football and urged clubs to place focus on women’s football along with men’s.
Gomes said that he has recently written to the Chief Minister drawing his attention as the President of SAG, to a host of issues that merit his attention such as non payment of dues of Rs 10 lakh owed by SAG from Lusofonia Games, “Goa won the gold in football and got deprived by SAG. How can one justify it?,” he queried.
Meanwhile when asked about recent controversy about an inter village tournament dispute involving Cuncolim Union, Gomes said as there would be conflict of interest, he stayed out of the decision taken by the committee.
