I want to win the title for our fans: Romeo

PANJIM: The FC Goa team was unveiled with great fan fare with star player Romeo Fernandes, who justified the midfielder role, was giving a warm welcome by the fans at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, on Thursday.
“I am happy to be a part of a star studded team with likes of Brazilian Luciano Sobrosa and Spanish midfielder, JofreMateu,” said the affable Goan poster boy.
The media shy midfielder, who is on loan from Dempo Sports Club looked in top form with the crowds cheering their local hero during their first training in the State after the Dubai pre-season friendlies. Romeo has also created a strong fan following in Dubai.
“It was simply overwhelming for me as a player to see the Goan community come out in large numbers to support our team. It makes a huge difference to the players,” said as beaming Romeo.
“I was simply awe struck to see the Goan fans at the Dubai airport. We want to win the title for them as they give a huge boost to our performance,” added Romeo.
Though the Goan star failed to convert during the friendlies he was instrumental in the FC Goa’s 2-1 victory against Al Shabab. Reinaldo restored their lead with a brilliant finish off a pass by Romeo who dribbled past two opponents after receiving the ball from Moura.
Romeo’s impressive form was lauded by FC Goa coach and Brazilian legend Zico. Earlier this year, his accomplishments got noticed by Brazilian club Clube Atlético Paranaense.
Romeo joined Atlético on loan from parent club Dempo SC until the end of June 2015, initially joining the U-23 team that competes in the state of Parana. 
Atlético Paranaense released Romeo and stated that he would re-join FC Goa for the 2015 Indian Super League season.
At the end of the loan period, Atletico Paranaense released Romeo Fernandes to participate in the ISL with FC Goa.
The presence of Romeo in the ISL’s 2015 edition will also allow the player greater exposure whilst he targets India qualifiers to the World Cup 2018.
 “I have no regrets on coming back to Goa. I just want to give my best and win the title. I am looking to make an impact and maybe be recognized as the top scorer,” added Romeo.
Commenting on his role with the Indian squad, especially after the Brazilian sojourn failed to impress chief coach Stephen Constantine Romeo looked repose his faith with the coach through his game. 
“I just want to play for the country and prove my worth. I am happy I was included in the list. When I got to know about it I was overjoyed, ”informed Romeo.
