PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has asked for a report from the Konkan Railway police station, on the investigation conducted into the apparent suicide of Sarika Pednekar, who along with her six-year-old son jumped in front of a train, last month.
Parrikar told reporters that he is likely to receive the report by Monday.
The disturbed mother had jumped in front a train and dragged her son Vignesh along with her about, a kilometer and a half, from Thivim railway station. Both were crushed to death on the Thivim-Sirsaim railway tracks.
The motive behind the drastic step is being investigated. Sarika’s husband was in Pune when she took the extreme step with her son. Police had ruled out foul play as there were no signs of struggle, which was also established by the train driver’s statement, who told the police that she suddenly leapt in front of the moving train.
