PANJIM: The State government on Wednesday announced that it has done away with the mandatory requirement for families of COVID victims to produce a death certificate when they apply for the ex-gratia financial assistance scheme.

The applicant has to submit a medical certificate in the prescribed proforma issued by the concerned hospitals where the victim expired due to COVID-19 and the medical report should have reference to the RTPCR/RAT report of any authorised lab of ICMR.
Directorate of Social Welfare is implementing the ex-gratia financial assistance scheme to families of victims of COVID-19 under which financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh is being given to the families.
