MAPUSA: Goa Police SC fought gallantly to come from two goals deficit to edge past Vasco SC 3-2 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
Goa Police dominated in the first 30 minutes of the first session but Kunal Salgaonkar and Mayrush Naik time and again failed to find the back of the nylons.
In the 34th and 35th minute Vasco SC scored two quick goals.
A diagonal pass by Vasco SC’s medio Laishram Singh was controlled by Ngulgoulal Singsit and after dribbling past the onrushing Goa Police goalkeeper Saiesh Kunkolkar, placed the ball into the goal, 1-0.
Hardly had the cheers died down Vasco SC doubled their lead where a powerful shot by Laishram from the edge of the box saw Ngulgoulal squeeze the ball into the goal, 2-0.
On crossing ends, Goa Police were a transformed unit where they not only levelled terms but scored the winning goal in the stoppage time.
Just three minutes into the second session and a curling corner by Dikshay Sarap was strongly nodded by Harshad Gaonkar into the goal, 2-1.
As the match progressed in the 61st minute, Goa Police equalised almost in the similar fashion but this time a corner by Dikshay was headed by Harshad to Mayuresh Naik, who nodded to Shubham Shirwaikar, who also nodded into the goal, 2-2.
When it looked the teams were heading for a draw in the 94th minute a free-kick by Goa Police Siddesh was controlled by Anant Gad who then released the ball to Kunal Salgaonkar, who slammed the ball into the far corner of the goal, 3-2.
