MP claim Nat netball cricket title

An unbeaten 24 runs by Rakesh Azad powered Madhya Pradesh to a comfortable nine wicket win over Pondicherry in the final of 4th Senior National Netball Cricket Championship at SAG ground, Fatorda on Tuesday.
Batting first, Pondicherry scored 43 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted five overs. Peru Murugan 10 and Dyanan Murthy 8 contributed for Pondicherry.
For Madhya Pradesh, Surabh claimed two wickets while Zuber and Rakesh Azad shared one wicket each.
In reply, Madhya Pradesh achieved the target without any difficulty by scoring 45 for the loss of one wicket in four overs. Rakesh Azad, the player of the tournament top- scored with 24 runs, scoring three fours and a six.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh defeated BHEL, Madhya Pradesh by 15 runs while Pondicherry defeated Tamil Nadu by six wickets.
Subhash Shirodkar, president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Girish Chodankar, former president of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress was the guest of honour. Praja Kumar Das, secretary, Federation of Netball Cricket Association and Gurudas Vernekar, manager, Nehru Stadium, Fatorda were among those present.
