It is observed that low-spending domestic tourists visit the state throughout the year. But these tourists do not bring much income to the state coffers. Most of these tourists prefer to spend the time under the open sky and do not book any accommodation in the hotels in order to save on the costs.
The only place these tourists spend their money is at the wholesale wine shops. In the capital city many of these tourists spend time in the gardens, specially, in the garden opposite the Kala Academy at Campal. They wash their clothes, which also include their under-garments, at the fountain, ponds and taps in the gardens and then put them out for drying on the garden lawns and the bushes. This becomes a source of embarrassment for other visitors to the gardens which include children and senior citizens.
These tourists then prefer to take a nap on the garden lawns instead of spending time in some city hotel. Some of these tourists even cook in the open, then have their food in the open and thereby litter the place. Such tourists have nuisance value and should not be allowed to carry out such activities in the gardens which is a place of relaxation for the locals and not an open ‘hotel’ for these low-spending domestic tourists.
The security that is deployed at the gardens and even the police should see to it that tourists who use the garden space for carrying out their domestic activities should be warned of carrying out such activities.
