Five gold smuggling activities are caught by the Customs in a single month of June which raises some serious questions, are these checks based on tip off or just coincidences. Do such smuggling activities take place on daily basis and go unnoticed by the Customs or do they find Goa a soft and easy exit or entry point or is there a change of guard in the customs department.
The most serious question is how smugglers and fake passports go undetected at the departure point. But whatever the reasons might be, the Customs head K Anpazhakan and immigration department must be complimented for the job well done.
