MARGAO: Goa’s cabinet ministers are still shying away from specifying if it will press Shah on his controversial remark in Karnataka that Goa had given its consent for the diversion of Mhadei waters to Karnataka
Against the backdrop of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Goa visit on Sunday, Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Subhash Shirodkar insisted that Shah ‘will take decisions for the benefit of Goa’.
He was asked by reporters about the statement that Shah had made while campaigning for the BJP in Karnataka that the BJP had resolved the long-standing dispute between both the States and that the Goa government had granted consent for the diversion of Mhadei to Karnataka.
It may be recalled that the BJP government has been criticised heavily by the Opposition MLAs and the public.
When asked if Shirodkar would personally speak to Shah about the Mhadei issue, Shirodkar said Shah will speak on Sunday about the Mhadei development and added that the State government had already spoken to Shah on Mhadei earlier too.
