RAIA: Hosts Maina Sports Club made way into the semi-finals of Simon Barreto Memorial inter-village football tournament defeating UC Seraulim, 5-4, via tie-breaker, at DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
Selroy fernandes opened the scoreline for UC Seraulim in the 5th minute of play while Edwin Sequeira levelled the score for Maina Sports Club in 28th minutes of play, before half time. Both teams remained 1-1 draw till the final whistle to decide the semi-finalist by way of penalty kick.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Maina converted through Joywin Carneiro, Savio Peixoto, Caitano Viegas and Nickson castanah, while UC Seraulim’s Ashley Fernandes, Keith Rodrigues and Floscio Fernandes were on target.
Dickson Braganza UC Seraulim was declared man-of-the-match award, presented by Josse Fernandes.
