PANJIM: The Goa Board declared that 83.51 per cent of its SSC student passed today. A total of of 18,103 students appeared, the board’s Chairman J S Rebello said and while number of girls appearing was less than boys for the exams that were held from March 1 to 15 in 24 centres. The girls outperformed boys as usual, this year too. 84.10% girls cleared compared to 82.93% boys. However, this year’s results were around 2 per cent less than last years.
There were 64 schools that had over 95 per cent of the results with some of them making this mark twice in a row.
A J de Almeida School, Ponda with 371 students was the top school in the 95 pass percentage category even though most of the top schools were in the three talukas of Bardez, Tiswadi and Salcete.
“There are five government schools in this category,” Rebello said addressing the customary press conference to announce the results.
The three special schools under the Goa Board sent 58 students through regular channels out of which 45 students passed. Sanjay Centre for Special Education itself sponsored 27 students which is quite a jump from the normal 6, 7 board officials said.
551 students availed of the sports merit marks to clear the exams out of a total of 6875 students that were eligible for the extra marks. The mathematics pass percentage of 83.70% was almost similar to the overall pass percentages
Distribution of passing certificate cum statement of grade/marks of S.S.C. examination will be done on May 26, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. as per this schedule:
For schools falling in Mormugao taluka the centre for collection of results is St. Andrew’s Institute, Vasco; for Canacona and Salcete the collection centre is Loyola High School, Margao; for Quepem and Sanguem the collection centre isS.E.S. High School, Curchorem; for Ponda and Dharbandoda the collection centre is A.J. De Almeida High School, Ponda; for Tiswadi, the collection centre is Progress High School, Panjim, for Bardez and Pernem, the collection centre is Dnyanprasarak Vidyalaya, Mapusa and for Bicholim and Satteri taluka, the centre is Progress High School, Sankhali.
Heads of institution have to send their representatives with authority letters to collect passing certificate cum statement of grade/marks/rectification from the result collection centres. The heads of institutions should release the passing certificate cum statement of grade/marks as per instruction alongwith consolidated result sheets. Private candidates who had appeared for the SSC examination can collect their passing certificate cum statement of grade/marks from the board’s office, Alto Betim, Bardez-Goa.
