In case of death, family members will be compensated with Rs 50,000 and in the case of serious injury leading to hospitalization for more than seven days, the family will be given Rs 25,000.
The compensation will be granted immediately without verification of other conditions once Transport department receives the application. Every year approximately 250 to 300 people lose their lives due to road accident and an equal number are injured.
Compensation under short-term relief will be granted to all, even for those covered by insurance. For long term relief the victim’s income should be below Rs 3 lakh per annum.
Under long term relief in case of death, family members or spouse will be provided Rs 2 lakh, in case of permanent disability Rs 1.5 lakh, in case of injury Rs 50,000 and in case of 3 to 7 days hospitalization after accident Rs 10,000.
All the claims will be entertained only after documentary proof from an authorized government medical officer. For short-term claim transport department should receive the application within seven days and for long run within 60 days of the accident.
