MARGAO: A vigilant resident has complained of having found voter cards dumped at Malbhat, Margao.
Nitin Pednekar, a resident of Malbhat in his complaint to the Margao Police station stated that children in his vicinity were seen playing with election cards, which were allegedly dumped in a nearby area. The police received 11 cards, which were found dumped in Malbhat. These cards were issued in 2011. The complainant has questioned as to how these cards were moved out of the office of the concerned authority. Margao PI C L Patil said, “We have written to the Fatorda Returning Officer seeking an explanation as to how these cards were moved out of the office”.
“In our initial inquiry, it was revealed that the cards found belong to those voters, who have shifted to other wards. These are cards of those people who possessed them earlier and had handed over the same to the returning officer after leaving their wards,” Patil informed. “However, we need to find out how these cards came out of the office of the Authority,” he added.
Many cards belonging to the Fatorda voters were also found in a drain near Margao Railway Station. Goa Forward has demanded fresh summary revision of electoral rolls.
