MAPUSA: Carmel HSS, Nuvem edged out St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa 3-2 via the tie-breaker in the U-19 Football HSS Girls State Level Finals organized by Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, at the Tivim ground.
The teams were locked goalless at full time.
n the first half, St Xavier’s drew first blood in the 19th minute through a superb volley from Viola Fernandes.
After the breather Indira Lamani equalised in the 42nd minute with a brilliant free kick that caught the opponent custodian by surprise.
The tie-breaker was resorted too which however ended in a 2-2 draw. In the sudden death, the first two shots failed to break the deadlock, but then with the third shot in the sudden death saw Carmel HSS Nuvem sealing their victory.
