Among the 20 points that GSPCB constantly monitors, the chairman visited four: Taj Vivanta, near the Mother Teresa Home, St Inez Fire Brigade and the Sewage Treatment Plant in Tonca.
Speaking about the inspection Noronha said that while it was clear sewage was the reason behind the polluting river, there were no visible signs of an open sewage line draining into the water body.
“It was clear with the smell and the general view of the creek that sewage was being dumped into it but there were no visible signs of any draining into it,” he said.
GSPCB is currently working on a detailed report, with fresh samples awaiting analysis, in which it will suggest and direct departments on steps to be taken for a cleanup of the creek.
