PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said any decision on lifting the ongoing prolonged State level curfew will be taken only after consulting with the expert committee.

The CM was responding to queries from media persons on Tuesday about the frequent extensions of the curfew, each time with a new set of relaxations and if the government is considering lifting the curfew completely. This comes against the backdrop of other States too lifting restrictions due to the decrease in COVID cases.
On that note, the CM said the COVID positivity rate in the State, which has been around 3 to 4 per cent in the last two weeks, has to come down further. He also said in order for the COVID positivity rate to reduce, it depends more on the people, as in that they follow COVID appropriate behaviour and take necessary precautions as has been advised by the government.
On Tuesday, the daily COVID positivity rate was at 3.83 per cent while on Monday it was at 3.46 per cent. The State had reported zero deaths on Monday for the first time in nearly four months; however, four deaths were reported on Tuesday.
The CM also praised the State’s frontline workers, the medical staff, doctors, nurses, etc, for Goa managing to have zero deaths in a single day after more than three months. He said this was due to their efforts and added that he hopes that there can be more days soon where the State reports zero deaths.
