CURCHOREM: Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chief Officer Kapil Phadte with the help of local councillor Piedade Diniz settled the issue of traditional access of locals from Bebquegal, Curchorem during the meeting held at CCMC premises on Monday.
It is learnt that some local residents complained to Curchorem police stating that an educational institution situated in their area has blocked their traditional access by installing gates for the school compound, which could create a problem for them during the emergency situation particularly at night.
Sensing that issue could create a law and order problem, Curchorem PI Ravindra Dessai sent a letter to CCMC chief officer urging him to urgently convey a meeting between the school management and locals who are affected due to installation of gates.
After hearing both the parties, the issue was sorted out and the management decided to cooperate with the local residents and has assured to keep the gates open.
Speaking to media, Chairman of the Institution Pradeep Kakodkar said that the gates are put for the school compound wall by the PTA for the safety purpose of the students and to avoid any untoward incidents as per the guidelines issued by the concerned authorities.
“We assured our neighbours (residents) to deploy security guard during the night time so that in any emergency situation and when there is need for opening the gate, he could open it for them,” informed Kakodkar.
Councillor Diniz said that locals have accepted the assurance given by the management to keep the gates open without locking it and hire the services of the security guard during the night time.
