MAPUSA: FC Goa registered a well-deserved 3-0 win over nine-man Sporting Clube de Goa in the Reliance Foundation Development League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday.
For the winners, all goals were scored in the second session of play with the efforts of Mallikjain Kalegar (67th minute), Lalthangliana (87th minute) and Likson Rebello (91st minute).
Young Gaurs that had humbled Churchill Brother by 5-0 margin were held goalless by Sporting Clube who had drawn against Dempo SC by 2-2 margin, in the first half.
The first session was a well-contested with two good strikes at the goal by Young Gaurs Lalthangliana, which was saved by Sporting Clube’s custodian Tanesh Kankonkar, while Akash Oraow shot went just past the crossbar.
At the other end Sporting Clube’s Francisco Fernandes latched a 25-yard shot which too flew over the rival’s horizontal bar.
On crossing over, Young Gaurs dictated terms and a scorching right footer from Prachit Gaonkar was brilliantly blocked by Sporting Clube custodian. Minutes later, Sporting Clube’s custodian left his charge to thwart Young Gaurs Saish Gaonkar in one to one situation.
Finally in the 67th minute, Mallikjain Kalegar beat his marker Swetan Gaonkar to head the ball home off Lalthangliana cross, 1-0.
Sporting Clube’s coach Levino Pereira brought in Shaviz Pathan and Velon Rebello from the bench where Shaviz drilled a fierce shot from outside the penalty box which was collected by Young Gaurs custodian.
Sporting Clube received a jolt in the 86th minute with the sending off two players Leran Dias (handling the ball inside the penalty box) and Joyson Coutinho (second caution) by Referee Vishal Pomberphekar.
From the penalty spot, Lalthangliana scored, while substitute Likson Rebello headed the ball into the net for the third goal, 3-0.
In the morning match, Sesa Football Academy were held by Clube de Salgaocar to a 1-1 draw.
For Sesa Football Academy, Sankalp Kankonkar scored, while Isac Zomwanpuia levelled terms for Clube de Salgaocar.
