Meanwhile, Curtorim primary health centre (CPHC) officials stated that two more dengue cases were reported in Curtorim and another in Rawanfond, Aquem-Baixo. Suspected cases were also reported in Macazana and Chandor.
Besides CPHC, the Directorate of Health Services, Panjim, Balli primary health centre), Salcete Deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar and Velim MLA Benjamin Silva are also monitoring the activities.
Silva and the panchayat urged the government to remove the illegal scrapyards as they had become health hazards. Incidentally, CPHC had issued notices to over 200 houses and commercial establishments in Areal to destroy any mosquito breeding grounds. It added that over 250 breeding grounds had already been destroyed.
CPHC officials said they were constantly monitoring the situation in Areal.
Health Officer Dr Vijaya Harlarnkar urged the people to keep their surroundings clean and co-operate with the officials, who had already started a house-to-house fever survey.
