CURCHOREM, MAY 21
The working committee of the Guardian Angel Church, Curchorem, has deferred its proposed agitation to protest against the failure of the police in nabbing the miscreants responsible for desecrating statues in the church premises.
In a press note, convenor of the committee Benny Fernandes explained that the agitation had been deferred as the investigations have been handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
“While we appreciate this, we hope that investigations are conducted at the earliest. The government should also declare a reward to those providing details on the culprits behind the incident,” the press note states
Angered over the desecration of the statues in the church premises, parishioners had threatened to stage an agitation, if the government failed to take action in the matter within a week.
