MARGAO: Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Ashwini Khandolkar on Tuesday ruled that charges be framed against former minister Mickky Pacheco and his associate Mathew Diniz for an incident that occurred in May 2009 at the Majorda Beach Resorts’ casino.
Mickky and Mathew were charged for wrongfully restraining, assaulting, criminally intimidating staff of the hotel and the casino under Sections 341, 352 and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 34 of IPC.
The case against the duo was that on the intervening night of May 30 and May 31 in the year 2009, they criminally trespassed into the casino without purchasing the tickets and asked the staff to accept currency as notes.
When the staff refused to do so, they intimidated them and even assaulted them and threatened to finish off the General Manager Gerald Fernandes.
After hearing the arguments from both sides the Judge on Tuesday ordered that charges be framed against the two and posted the matter for July 17 for framing of charges.
Mathew said he would appeal against this order.
