PANJIM: The North District Police have imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in Panjim and Porvorim ahead of the winter session of the Legislative Assembly starting on January 29.
The order that remains in force till the conclusion of the session on January 31 states that no person or persons shall convene or gather as an assembly; shall take out any procession or stage any demonstration on the road/street or thoroughfare, or hold public meeting except under and in accordance with the terms and conditions laid down by the police.
“Any person or class of persons intending to convene or collect such assembly and take out processions/demonstrations individually, collectively or otherwise shall apply to the District Superintendent of Police, for license well in advance. However, in no case, procession, morcha, rally dharna etc shall be allowed within the radius of 500 meters around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim and area under Panjm Police Station as promulgated under Section 144 CrPC by the District Magistrate, North Goa,” the order further states.
