MARGAO: Davorlim Boys overcame BMC, Chinchinim 1-0 to storm into the final of all-Goa Sucaldem Cup football tournament, organized by Sucaldem Youth Club, at Sucaldem ground, Chinchinim, on Friday. There was no score at the lemon break.
Midway in the opening session, BMC tormented the rival defence with sporadic raids and came close in surging head but the rival defenders thwarted their attempts with neat tackles.
Crossing over, the all-important goal came midway in the second half when lanky striker Venson Figureido beat the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Stung by that setback, BMC intensified their attacks and went all out however rival defenders were stubborn and frustrated their attacks.
In the second semi final, Dangerous Boys, Nessai defeated Sarzora Boys 2-1 after leading 1-0 at the breather.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. However Dangerous Boys surged ahead in the 20th minute when Donaldo picked up the ball from his own half and punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Post resumption, Dangerous Boys continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and Lino Dias doubled the lead when he beat the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
Down by two goals, Sarzora Boys went all out and late in the second half and striker Ryan Fernandes pulled a goal back.
Davorlim Boys will meet Dangerous Boys, Nessai in the final, on Sunday.
