PANJIM: About 300 employees of one of the Pharma companies’ operating in Goa had to overstay at their workplace due to imposition of Section 144 and they never had the permit or curfew passes to travel back to their home. Nearly after 14 hours, the company managed to obtain the curfew passes which enabled the employees to leave through company vehicles.

The commotion did start when the company could not arrange breakfast for the employees but finally managed to serve the lunch before they could leave for their respective homes.
“We are not allowing the fresh batch to come in today as we are waiting for some more curfew passes from the collectorate office and right now the production is not on and operation in the factory has completely halted. Yes the production will surely go down,” said the operational head of the pharma company.
This pharma company produces some anti-cancer drugs, in-hailers for asthmatic patients and some nebulising solutions which helps elderly patient to breathe easy. “It is very important now that the production should not be hindered as the threat of Covid 19 is looming large. World over this phenomenon of slowdown s seen now,” said the source.
Goa’s share in all India production of pharmaceuticals is about 11 per cent and after the collapse of mining industry it is sector which gives a white collar jobs.
