PANJIM: The Goa Fire and Emergency Services will be observing National Fire Service Day on Monday to pay homage to firemen-martyrs who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. This will be followed by a fire prevention week from April 14 to 20, to raise fire safety awareness.
Addressing a press conference, Director Ashok Menon informed that a ceremonial parade will be held at the Fire Force Training Ground at St Inez at which Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be the chief guest and Principal Secretary R K Verma will preside over the function along with other officials.
“Live fire fighting and rescue demonstrations by the fire personnel and an exhibition of fire fighting equipment will be organized as part of the function,” Menon said.
Various awareness programmes have been organized across the state including at crowded places. All Goa Quiz Competition for high schools has also been organized on the concluding day of the awareness week at Institute of Menezes Braganza Panjim, followed by a blood donation camp.
