FIR on Polgi’s statements; Search for Kankonkar Continues

Panaji: Mormugao police have filed an FIR against social activist Xencor Polgi for his objectionable statements regarding the Goa spiritual festival. Many devotees of Brahmashanand Swami had filed a complaint with the police objecting to these statements.

The festival, organized by the Sadhguru Foundation on Bayana Beach, was aimed at establishing spiritual and cultural unity. However, devotees have alleged that Polgi’s statements disrespected the festival and its participants.

The complaint states that the reputation of the festival has been damaged due to his statements. The police have started an investigation based on the complaint, and devotees of Brahmashanand Swami have expressed strong displeasure over these statements.

Polgi’s statements on social media have hurt our religious sentiments. Therefore, he should be arrested,” demanded a devotee of Brameshanand Swami. The police have started examining the evidence and statements in this case and further decisions will be taken regarding legal action.

Meanwhile, the Panaji police have already registered a case against social activist Rama Kankonkar on the charge of making a video defaming the image of Brameshanand Swami viral on social media.

Since Wednesday night, the police have formed various teams and started searching for Kankonkar. However, he has not been caught by the police yet.

On the night of March 12, a large number of devotees of Brameshanand Swami had appeared at the Panaji police station and demanded the arrest of Kankonkar.

Although the police have since launched a search operation, Kankonkar’s whereabouts have not been found yet. A case was registered against Kankonkar a few days ago for making objectionable statements against Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. After arresting him, the court released him on bail.

Kankonkar was not present when his house was raided. His family said they did not know his whereabouts. Police also said that they were having difficulty locating Kankonkar as he had kept his mobile phone at home.
