PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) has said that PWD Minister MGP’s Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar should be given time to complete the internal enquiry before jumping the gun to accuse any individual.
Sardesai was responding to allegations that US-based company CDM Smith paid USD 25,000 to local officials in Goa in relation to a water project construction contract between 2011-2015.
He said, “The minister has already said there will be an internal enquiry in the next 10 days and we should wait for that.”
Reminding him of the stern stand he had taken on the Louis Berger case prior to the Assembly elections, he retorted, “In Louis Berger case, I myself was supposed to be an accused. These scams when they come, they suddenly take a political colour. The scam fingers were pointed at me till the municipal elections in Margao. The moment municipal elections were over, I was innocent.”
Stating that the case is of a financial irregularity, Sardesai said, “It has to be probed by experts in the field of financial systems. Today India has an inbuilt system, where you cannot get away with such acts.”
