PANJIM: Even as the cabinet amended the mining dump policy, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar expressed his optimism that the State would get around Rs 800 to 1000 crore from the ensuing e-auctions. The first e-auction brought in Rs 94 crore. The next auction is likely to be held within a week.
The chief minister, admitting that the shortfall in revenue due to stoppage of mining was around Rs 1,500 crore, said that he had managed to recover Rs 1,200 crore through a variety of measures including money from dump land and blocking of revenues.
“All additions can be pegged down to Rs 900 crore. The balance is from activities that have started he said, even as he put down as 7% the increase in commercial tax when compared to last year.
On the mining dump amendment, he said that the cut off date for applications had been pushed to March 31 from January 3, provided the applicants paid interest at the rate of 15% to be calculated from January 3 till the date the party pays.
