PANJIM: The men’s team of Goa Engineering College (GEC) entered the quarter-final on the third day of the Indian College Basketball League (ICBL) organized by Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and Goa Basketball Association (GBA) in collaboration with IMG Reliance (IMG-R), at Fr Benedict Furtado indoor stadium, Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim, on Saturday.
In the Challengers League, GEC beat Rosary College, Navelim 44-12 to book their place in the last eight against hosts Don Bosco. This was GEC’s second victory in as many matches which ensured they reached the quarter-finals after topping Pool B.
Chowghule College for second consecutive time gave a walkover to their opposition, this time it gave BITS Pilani their second win and a top of the table position in Pool C with a confirmed quarter-final berth.
In the women’s category too, Chowghule gave a walkover to Rosary College, Navelim. This was followed by SS Dempo’s 23-5 victory over St Xavier College, Mapusa. The last match saw SS Dempo going down to Rosary College, Navelim 32-15.

Men’s: Rosary College (Shyan 10) lost to GEC (Kenneth 15) 12-44; Chowghule lost to BITS Pilani (walkover).
Women’s: Rosary College beat Chowghule (walkover); SS Dempo (Kezia 14) beat St Xavier (Roshil 5) 23-5; Rosary (Cherifa 15) beat SS Dempo (Kezia 11) 32-15.
