BICHOLIM: The Bicholim Municipal Council is first to implement online registration of construction licence in the State.
Speaking to media persons, the BMC Chairperson Kundan Falari said that the council has implemented the online registration of the construction licence in the town and out of 12 municipalities in the State they have been the first to do so.
“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant have given stress on e-governance and online registration of various services to the public. In view of this, our municipality has become the first municipality to start giving online construction licence,” said Falari.
He said that this was possible because of the active efforts of the Junior Engineer, Chief Officer and the entire team of councillors.
“As of now we are giving online licence to single dwelling construction and when they come with their files we upload it on the portal. In due course of time, we would make it available online for anyone who can visit the portal and upload their files sitting at home,” said Falari.
He said that this would lead to transparency and quick access to information by the public.
“As of now we have not given public interface but at a later stage that is our plan,” said Chief Officer Kabir Shirgaonkar adding, “If all the documents are in place then the licence would not take more than 15 days to be processed.”The BMC is also planning to make the income certificate, birth certificate available online.
