PANJIM: Urging the people of Shel-Melauli to give up violence and come for talks, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the political parties and NGOs are misguiding them.
Sawant appealed to the people to come and meet him to resolve the issue. “I will not go to Melauli again. I have held meetings with them thrice. Even went to Melauli once but they are adamant. Maybe they want to come to meet but somebody is instigating them,” he said.
“The political parties are instigating the people. The way they behaved on January 6 is intolerable. They have used sharp weapons, stones and masalas to attack the police,” he said.
He also said that the demarcation of land will
continue. “Whatever issues are there can be sorted by dialogue,” he said.
On Section 307 attempt to murder charge, Sawant said, the police has seen the evidence and only charged the people.
Earlier, BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade ruled out the Chief Minister visiting Shel-Melauli again to hold talks with the people.
“Neither CM will go there nor will the party allow him to go. Being the president of BJP, I will request CM Sawant to not visit and hold talks with Melauli villagers because earlier he had already visited there two times and yet the villagers haven’t agreed,” Tanavade said.
He added, “I am very confident that CM Sawant will solve the issue of Melauli IIT.”
Tanavade further said that the incident in which the villagers attacked the police force is an attempt to murder while also stating that outsider villagers, political parties and NGOs are doing the job of instigating villagers.
