MARGAO: With the ruling alliance leaving Goa Vikas Party (GVP) with only five seats as against seven seats claimed by the party, GVP supremo Mickky Pacheco on Friday said he is holding discussions with the two Independent MLAs of Navelim and Velim to explore the possibility of leaving the two seats to the GVP.
A day after he exuded confidence that GVP will contest seven seats, but was given only five seats by the ruling BJP-MGP-GVP alliance, Mickky said the GVP would certainly field candidates for Navelim and Velim ZP seats if Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado and Velim MLA Benjamin Silva stay away from the ensuing election. “I am holding discussions with both Avertano and Benjamin on the prospects of GVP fielding candidates in Navelim and Velim. If the duo have their candidates in Navelim and Velim, the GVP will step in after consultations with both Avertano and Benjamin”, Mickky said.
Replying to a question, Mickky said the GVP had identified and finalised candidates for both the Navelim and Velim seats, adding that the candidates will contest the poll on the party banner if Avertano and Benjamin stay away from the election.
