PANJIM: The government of Goa has issued notification decriminalising violations for movement of boats and vessels in state’s waters. The notification replaces the earlier penalty of imprisonment with fines for violations of Inland Vessels Registration Rules.
In a notification by the government, the violations of certain rules pertaining to registration and operation of vessels in the state’s waters have been decriminalised. Instead of imprisonment and fines, now the Captain of Ports (CoP) will henceforth impose fines if boats and inland vessels are found operating without registration. The Captain of Ports department has notified the amendments that change the Goa Inland Vessels Registration Rules and the Inland Vessels (Construction and Survey) Rules.
