CURCHOREM: Assuring his support to the Mission Bypass members, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Monday promised to keep the mining trucks off the road till the issue is settled amicably.

CURCHOREM: Assuring his support to the Mission Bypass members, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Monday promised to keep the mining trucks off the road till the issue is settled amicably. 
Calling on Mission Bypass members at Tilamol, he informed that at this juncture it’s not feasible to acquire the land as the land owner’s assent is required as per the new Act and added that every effort will be made to complete the bypass road in two phases as the land had been acquired for these two phases.
If the bill on land acquisition is passed in the Rajya Sabha, then the procedure will be simple, he said and suggested a two-way flyover along the main road for mining trucks so that the main road could be used by citizens. Highlighting the various difficulties faced by the people, Mission Bypass convenor Pradip Kakodkar welcomed the MLA’s gesture and urged him to give them two days time to discuss the issue with the core committee members.
Member of the South Truck Owners’ Association Cajetan Fernandes informed the media persons that they favours a mining bypass but the government has to find out a solution to the problem or compensate the truck owners as they have suffered losses for the last four years due to the mining ban.
CCMC chairperson Vishwas Sawant Dessai, vice-chairperson Prashila Bhande, councillors Piedade Fernandes, Tony Coutinho, Felix Fernandes and Tony Fernandes were present.
