A Kadamba bus with registration number GA 03 X 0241, bound for Saal from Panjim, encountered a critical breakdown near Thivim on Wednesday night. The incident occurred during the final journey of the night, with approximately 50 passengers on board, traversing through Assnora, Kasarpal, Dodamarg, and Saal. The breakdown was attributed to a malfunction in the recently remoulded front tyre, which heated up and detached, leaving the passengers stranded near the Thivim football ground.
Efforts to resolve the situation were reportedly hampered by a lack of timely assistance from authorities. Local residents, witnessing the unfolding events, claimed that despite reaching out for help, the authorities failed to respond for over two hours, leaving the driver and passengers stranded on the roadside late into the night. Some authorities allegedly cited being off-duty, while others simply did not respond to the distress calls. Consequently, the burden fell on the driver to manage the situation.
