AMBELIM: Mandopa Sporting Club downed Goa Velha 2-0 to book their place in the final of Lourdes Soccer, organised by Ambelim Sports Club, at Ambelim ground, on Sunday.
In the 10th minute, a free-kick taken by Climax Lawrence was connected well by Presley but it was parried away for a corner by Goa Velha’s keeper. The keeper was again in action as he parried Travis’ shot.
However Travis was lucky to give Mandopa the lead when he placed the ball over the on-rushing keeper.
Goa Velha were unlucky not to equalise as Yogendra Thapa’s shot hit the crossbar and came back into the play.
Clinton Niasso increased Mandopa SC’s lead through a spot-kick which was awarded after Suresh brought down Travis in the box.
Mandopa await the winner of Ambelim SC and Carmona SC in the final on Feb 16.
