CANACONA: Apprehensive over the order to demolish 64 structures standing in no development zone at Agonda beach, a turtle nesting site, stakeholders from the camps belonging to both BJP and Congress, met Goa Chief Minister separately with a fervent appeal to save their structures from demolition which is slated for Monday.
It may be recalled that Canacona deputy collector through his staff had served notices to 64 tourism stakeholders on Saturday at Agonda having structures standing in the no development zone.
Sources said that the demolition notices were sent to South Goa Collector for serving and execution which in turn were served through the Canacona deputy collector’s office.
Highly placed sources said that the in-charge of the South Goa district demolition squad has already arranged for machinery, manpower and police force to execute the demolition order which in all likelihood will start from 8 am on Monday morning.
Sources at Canacona police station confirmed that they are asked to provide security at Agonda beach to for demolition on Monday morning.
