rnThe body of the man, who jumped into the river in a desperate bid to rescue his lover on Wednesday, was fished out from the Zuari River on Thursday morning.
rnCurchorem police stated that the deceased, Mohammed Arif Shaik was employed as a salesman in the Curchorem market, while his lover was employed at a cyber-café in the Curchorem market.
rnPolice conducted the inquest and sent the body for an autopsy at Hospicio at Margao, before handing it to family members for final rites.
rnThe woman, who was rescued from the river, is undergoing treatment at Hospicio and was not in a condition to give her statement, police said.
rn PI Bhanudas Dessai is investigating the case.
