PANJIM: Against the backdrop of differences between tourist taxi operators and GoaMiles app-based cab service, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has approached Chief Minister Pramod Sawant ‘to set things right.’

Speaking to media persons at Porvorim, Godinho further said he is in talks with the stakeholders on a one-to-one basis.
“The file is moving to transfer counters from Tourism to Transport Department. Right now it is a sort of confusion because half the thing is being controlled by Tourism and half by Transport. Rightly, it is a transport problem. How can I be held responsible when it has not been transferred to Transport Department,” he said replying to a query on Transport Department being dragged into the controversy of the two taxi services.
He added that he has raised the matter with the CM “expecting him to do the needful at the earliest.” “I want to set things right. Let it come on my plate,” he stated.
The tussle between tourist taxi operators and GoaMiles service is taking ugly turn each passing day. In a latest incident, GoaMiles lodged a police complaint against a taxi driver for assaulting its driver with deadly weapons and damaging the vehicle. The tourist taxi drivers have been demanding scrapping the app-based service alleging it is a bid to snatch away their business.
