MARGAO: Salgaocar registered a fluent 3-0 win over Vasco in GFA Kingfisher Super League at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, Wednesday. Salgaocar led 1-0 at the breather.
Salgaocar’s Milagres Gonsalves and captain Bevan D’Mello tries were blocked by Vasco goalkeeper Agnelo Noronha before Randeep Singh converted a penalty in the 23rd awarded as defender Sarvanand Korgancar tripped Cliffton Dias.
Vasco hardly threatened the rival goal while Salgaocar created several scoring chances but Bevan D’Mello, Gilbert Oliveira, substitute Balwant Singh frittered away from ideal positions.
Salgaocar continued to enjoy the better of exchanges after the break but Milagres blasted wide from hand-shaking distance.
Vasco regrouped and nearly found the equaliser when
Kishan Borkar saw Salgoacar goalkeeper out his position and hooked the ball goalwards but defender Thounaojam Singh managed to avert danger. Later, Agnelo Baretto’s header struck the left post.
Salgaoar doubled the lead in the 60th minute when Balwant Singh tapped it home off Milagres.
Gilbert atoned for his miss as he punished goalkeeper Agnelo Noronha with a snap shot.
