DIG Yadav to get police medal

PANJIM: Goa’s Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav will be awarded police medal for meritorious service at the hands of President of India Pratibha Patil at the Republic Day parade in Delhi today.

Yadav, posted in Goa for over three years, is the lone officer from Goa to be given this honour.

An IPS officer of 1995 batch, Yadav excelled during training at National Police Academy, Hyderabad and was placed second in the All-India inter-seniority of his batch.

The officer has performed exceptionally well in various assignments during his career as SDPO Aizawl, SP Serchhip district, Mizoram, AIG (Operations) Mizoram, Additional DCP and DCP in three major districts of Delhi and DCP Special Branch of Delhi Police, SSP Crime and Intelligence, Goa and now as DIG in Goa Police.

During his posting in Mizoram as AIG (Operations), his responsibilities included liaison with Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and Assam Rifles to ensure well coordinated anti-insurgency operations along the international borders of Myanmar and Bangladesh.

During the period 2002 to 2007, his postings in Delhi Police included Additional DCP (North-West and West Districts) and DCP (South-West). He successfully handled a number of law & order arrangement, major strikes, agitations, demonstrations, demolitions, festivals, rally’s etc as well as security arrangements of Protected Persons, VIPs and vital installations. 

During his posting in Goa Police since March 2008, the officer has continued to work with great sincerity and industry. 

He has been ably supervising the investigation of all important cases reported in Goa in his capacity as the direct supervisory officer of the two police districts, Crime Branch, ANC and EOC. He closely guided the Special Investigation Team (SIT), in conducting meticulous investigations and arresting the accused responsible for planting bombs on October 16, 2010, which has been applauded by all concerned, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

His major successes inter alia include personally leading in the safe rescue of victims in various cases of kidnapping for ransom and launched the biggest jungle operation in the Agonda Forest; arrests of serial killer Mahanand; Chandrakant Talwar gang (for series of murder of women); Polish national Adam Piotr Mancic (wanted in Germany by Interpol); Ajay Kaushal (wanted in UK); Santa Cruz dacoits; notorious drug-runners David alias Dudu, Yaniv Benain alias Atala and Bhui Chimulkar.

Speaking to Herald form Delhi, the officer said is he contented to be honored.

“I will continue to work with more sincerity and make the police force people-friendly”, he said.
