PANJIM: The Goa Football Association (GFA) has floated an ITB (Invitation to Bid) for teams seeking direct entry for Goa Professional League (GPL).
The bid document available at GFA office has a two-tier bidding system, of Rs. 30 lakhs for clubs who are registered under the Societies Act 1860 and corporate bid for clubs registered under Companies Act 2014, minimum bid Rs 50 lakh.

Corporates from outside Goa can also tie up with local clubs in Goa and table a bid. This could see participation of reserve ISL teams or academies from outside the State, who may seek more preparation time for their teams.
“We are working to improve the standard of Goa’s flagship football tournament. We want to make the GPL a better product which will attract more eyeballs, sponsors, better players and eventually enhance the standard of the League which will serve as a platform for players to get scouted by bigger clubs”, said GFA president Caitano Fernandes, in a Press release, Sunday.
The new teams will have to adhere to GFA Club Licensing Criteria concerning infrastructure, sporting, legal, financial and administration. They will have to invest on grassroots and youth development to build Goa’s talent. “We need more investments in the programmes to remain competitive in the future”, stated GFA’s senior vice-president and chairman, competitions committee Anthony Pango. The GPL will begin in August.
