Warring Rumdamol groups meet

MARGAO: A day after two groups of Muslims came face-to-face at the Rumdamol Housing Board Masjid, the police on Saturday summoned the two warning groups over the election of the managing committee scheduled on December 14.

After the meeting, Margao Sub-divisional Police officer, DySP Mohan Naik said the two groups are at loggerheads over the election process, whether it should be held by secret ballot or by raising of hands.
The issue has also reached the doorsteps of the district Collector, South who had a round of meeting with representatives of the two groups along with the Registrar of Societies. It is learnt that the Register has been directed to settle the issue of election of the new managing committee of the Masjid by holding a joint meeting with the warring groups.
Meanwhile, Nisser Killdder resident of Housing Board, Rumdamol Davorlim who was arrested late evening on December 5, by the Maina-Curtorim police was produced before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Margao who released him.
