PONDA: Ponda Police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old resident of Nuvem-Salcette on charges of cheating and forging documents.
According to Ponda Police, a bank manager complained that the accused, Sujit Shirwant, had taken a car loan of Rs 6.10 lakh from a bank in Margao and the car was registered with Ponda RTO in 2009. However the accused failed to pay the loan instalments.
Police further informed that the accused forged documents that were submitted to the RTO Ponda so that the Registration Certificate (RC) book does not carry hypothecation details.
Police said that as the car is untraceable, they suspect the accused must have sold it. PSI S Gawas is investigating the case.
