PANJIM: With almost 40 percent of the bird species from the country being recorded in Goa, the State is set to host the 4th edition of the Bird Festival from February 5 to February 7 at Mollem, Dharbandora. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will be the chief guest of the event.
On February 5 the festival will commence with a lecture by Sunil Limaye which will be followed by a live session with Christopher Bowden on ‘The challenge to save Indian vulture from extinction’. While Pankaj Lad will speak on bird communication, Pravish Pandya will give insight into some other related topic.

On February 6, Dr P Sathiyaselvam will speak on bird migration while Adesh Shivkar will share his experience of bird watching in Goa over the last decade. Saurabh Sawant will speak on “Recording bird sound” while Sanjeev Nalavde enlighten the audience on Konkan birds. Rajah Jaypal will be present to speak upon the changing taxonomy of birds.
On the concluding day, before the valedictory function Parag Ranganekar will tour the audience through the history of bird watching in Goa.
As part of pre-festival activity, an awareness vehicle rally is being organized from Quepem Municipality to Mollem to spread the message of conservation. The rally would be flagged off on February 4.
