Koparwada locals urge PWD to find solution to flooding road

According to the villagers, they and school children are forced to travel through the knee-deep water accumulated on the road during the monsoon

PONDA: The locals of Koparwada, Curti-Ponda on Tuesday urged the PWD Road Division to find a solution to the flooding road problem, which is a yearly phenomenon during the monsoon.

According to the villagers, they and school children are forced to travel through the knee-deep water accumulated on the road during the monsoon. The 50-metre road stretch at Koparwada leading towards Dada Vaidya High School is caved in and further, there is no drainage system for water to flow.

While speaking to media persons, Student Anisha along with the villagers said, “We school students are forced to walk through this road, which gets flooded up to the knee in monsoon. Our uniforms get wet while walking through the flooded road.”

Villagers Ranganath Gaude, Anant Gaude and Shivdas Naik said, “Every election, the politicians promise to solve the problems faced by the villagers but after elections, these promises are forgotten.” 

“This road is a shortcut route and many commuters use it to travel to Usgao, Marcel and surrounding industries. We have submitted many memorandums to the Curti-Khandepar Panchayat Village requesting for proper construction of the road with a gutter system but the panchayat till now has failed to find a solution,” they said.
