In a major security breakthrough ahead of Independence Day celebrations, Indian counter-terrorism agencies successfully dismantled a sophisticated cross-border terror network led by Pakistan-based handler Shahzad Bhatti. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that coordinated operations resulted in the arrest of more than 200 operatives, thwarting planned subversive attacks across Northern India.
According to statements released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), law enforcement agencies registered over 80 First Information Reports (FIRs) against members and associates of the Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN). The charges span severe statutory frameworks, including the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act, the NDPS Act, and the Explosive Substances Act.

During the nationwide sweeps, security forces recovered extensive caches of contraband and military-grade matériel. Seizures included improvised explosive devices (IEDs), hand grenades explicitly bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, live ammunition, and commercial CCTV equipment intended for covert espionage. Officials noted that these recoveries provide irrefutable evidence of the syndicate’s direct operational linkage to foreign handlers and Pakistani intelligence backings.
