CMC stops garbage collection

CUNCOLIM: As a precautionary measure, the Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) has stopped collecting garbage from all 12 wards in its jurisdiction after four of its workers  tested positive for COVID.

The Council has asked the locals to dispose the wet garbage on their own and store the dry waste so that it can collect the same once the situation turns normal.

The CMC has been collecting door-to-door garbage collection for the past many years. The Council has removed all garbage bins due to which some locals are finding difficult to dispose wet waste.

Meanwhile, the locals have demanded that the CMC come out with an alternate plan for garbage collection such as outsourcing the garbage collection work till the workers’ issue is solved.
